We have brought in a professional to survey our Round Robin. We're not sure how she feels about it... She may just give her approval for her payment (in the form of food, of course).

We had another wonderful meeting last evening! We had a nice attendance, and some beautiful show-and-tell items. Many ready-to-sew community service quilt kits (as provided by Sue) were passed around, and it looks as though there will be plenty to do at our next Friday Night Sew, which is scheduled for the evening of the 6th of March at the Kidder Methodist Church.

We had an abbreviated meeting this month so that we could make more time for our guest speaker, Patti Buhler of Quilted Arts Studio in Kearney, Missouri. Patti is a multi-talented lady who travels with her business quite a lot, teaching classes and vending at multiple conventions and expos. She passed around many beautiful painted pieces of fabric and quilts and talked about her multiple methods of dying/painting/coloring/embellishing fabrics. The more conventional and common methods of painting fabric have been elaborated and improved on more than most of us were aware of, I believe. There are now much more reasonable methods of fabric painting, besides using the small bottles of Cameo fabric paints that give you (or me, anyway) serious hand cramps. From oil-based paint sticks to Japanese paints, she would be the person to talk to about beautiful fabric painting.

REMINDER:  Our next meeting, which will be on the 19th of March, WILL NOT BE IN HAMILTON. OUR MEETING WILL BE HELD AT CROSSROADS QUILTING IN CAMERON. Linda of Crossroads, as an official AQS certified appraiser of quilts, will be hosting a presentation on antique/vintage quilts. She has invited anyone who has an older quilt in their possession to bring it along. She will not be able to actually appraise your quilt, but she will be able to tell the group a bit about it.
