Twisted Stitchers minutes of the January 15, 2015

CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order by President Romme at 6:40 PM. The roll call sheet and envelope for dues was passed around.

MINUTES:
There were no minutes of the December meeting.

TREASURER’S REPORT:
The Treasurers report was given by Linda showing a balance of $xxxxxxx with 2 outstanding checks. One for the rent of the building in the amount of $25.00 and the other to reimburse Romme for the purchase of pillows.
A motion was made by Deloris to accept Treasurer’s report as read and seconded by Romme. Motion carried.

WEBSITE:
Katie gave out information on the website. Katie stated that Google had purchased Blogspot. She also gave out the sign in information for the sites to allow for everyone to share their projects, links and any other information. If you need any additional help with either contact Katie or Charlotte.

BLOCK OF THE MONTH:
Romme ask if everyone had all of the 2014 block of the month info before she handed out the 2015 block of the month. The 2015 block of the month will be Thangles. Romme gave out the first month pattern and cutting directions.

CHARITY QUILTS:
Sue showed all the quilt tops that were completed and waiting to be quilted. These quilts will be presented at the Baptist Home in Chillicothe in August.  It was also discussed about perhaps making items to ensure that each attendee receive something. Pillowcase and walker bags were discussed. Romme to confirm the number of possible attendees.
PROGRAMS:
Carolyn gave out a list of programs for the year which have been filled for the year. Carolyn also requested that if you have not participated in the program activities that you start coming up with ideas for the next year. Carolyn also gave out the 2015 officers with activities/chairman listed.
A discussion on the February program “Color My Quilt” was held and a motion was made by Charlotte to pay the cost of $150.00 and seconded by Maxine. Motion carried. Romme is to call and confirm with Pat Buhler. There was also a discussion regarding the number to attend and perhaps to make a special invitation to some of our past members and possible use to recruit new members. Put up poster in breakroom at MSQC however we need to keep the attendance to no more that 25.

UFO-Show and Tell:
Darlene will serve as chairman for the UFO program as Mary Beth had a conflict of meeting dates. Mary Beth will completed all the quilts she currently has and Darlene will bring to the meeting after they are completed. Thanks goes out to Mary Beth for all her hard work and she will be missed.
Darlene handed out a form to use for the UFO project for 2015 and this form should be turned in at the February meeting.
Darlene started off by showing two quilts that she had finished. Then Carolyn showed a string quilt to be used as a community service quilt which she will have MSQC quilted.  Carolyn second quilt was one for her daughter which it being given to grandson. Carolyn also had a quilt started last April and Sue volunteered to complete.
Charlotte showed quilt tops using a nine patch. Charlotte had some kits for the other members if they wanted to do the quilt.
Maxine had 3 quilts to show showing off that wonderful custom quilting.
Amazing quilts and ideas were shared.

OLD BUSINESS:
Carolyn stated that we could tour Fabric Quilt any day Monday thru Friday 7-3. All that need to be done is to confirm date, time and how many want to go.
Trip to the quilt museum in Lincoln. Discussion was held on different things the members could do. No decision made.

NEW BUSINESS:
President’s guild challenge-Circles:
Romme stated that the challenge will be making circles. It can be any size, any color, and any combination. The completed circle item will be due at the November meeting.

Friday night sew was discussed. The Friday night sew is for open sewing so we invite everyone to attend. The next Friday night sew will be on February 6, 2015 at 5:30 PM.

Romme gave a demonstration on how to make Thangles. It was great and she made it look so easy. Sure lined up the points.

A motion to adjourn was made by Carolyn and seconded by Maxine. Motion carried. Adjourned at 8:39 PM

After the meeting members were given the opportunity to share patterns with each other. Some were on loan and other were free to take. Thanks to everyone who participated.
