August Meeting

I apologize for the lateness of this post, but I would like to review Thursday's meeting.

It was a good meeting with a good attendance (welcome back, Amy!) and it was very enjoyable to see Darlene and others' holiday quilts.

Momentum is picking up in anticipation of September's quilt show with the Crazy Quilters. Deloris is getting the categories lined up and we are now shopping for ribbons to award to the winners of each category.

We have decided to have the same policy regarding help as we have in past years: Everyone is urged to help whenever they can. There will be no working shifts or stiff obligations. Also, I believe the decision has been made to not use Missouri Star's PVC pipe quilt display racks as they were a bit too tall and wide for our provided facility, and we would like to provide more space to walk and better, brighter lighting. Even though our use of the church will not be confined exclusively to the fellowship hall this year, we still are only going to have only the east-facing door open and a single reception table so we can cut down on the places that we will all have to try to be at once. This year we will be needing more monitors to walk around and keep an eye on both the quilts and church property as we will be using the sanctuary for quilt display as well as the fellowship hall. Deloris is going to be at the helm of this operation, so if you have any questions or concerns later down the line, please email her sister Bernice (she will be happy to carry the message next door to Deloris, who is experiencing some problems with her email server).

We are also trying to coordinate how to get flyers for our show to different areas of the state. Romme has already figured out ways to get ads in the Caldwell County News and the Chillicothe newspaper, but we need to get our flyers out to as many places as possible. So when the flyers are ready, we may need some of our members from different communities to cover their area. It has not been decided whether it would be possible to email the flyers to each other to be printed and distributed to different communities again because of Deloris' aforementioned email issue.

So the bottom line is, please mark your calendars for Friday, September 25th and Saturday, September 26th. We will be needing quilts to enter in the show as well as some help. Whenever you can help and in whatever way, your help will be MUCH appreciated so the weekend can be fun for all, and not a nightmare for a few. 


Anyway, now that that's covered, I will discuss the fun part of our meeting; Darlene's presentation! Darlene is a lady who loves the holidays, it seems to me, as she has made more holiday quilts than most of us.
